YOKO ICHIMURA

Through photographic surfaces and material layers, her work examines the conditions under which an image comes into being.

Statement

Landscape is approached as a multilayered presence and serves as a point of departure for transformation into a phenomenon.

Using a photographic surface as a starting point—the medium closest to physical existence—translucent layers and material surfaces are added, allowing the image to appear not as a fixed representation but as a fluctuating state within perception.

​

Through this process, latent and invisible layers embedded within the visible world momentarily surface between material and observation.
